Background
-
The event started with the mailing of letters to 316
member organizations on 07/08/08 asking for their suggestions
on how to organize the stand up event.
-
In
response 28 Member organizations sent their suggestions.
-
Meetings
were held time to time in UPVAN office to review the
suggestions of member organizations. It was decided
in secretariat meetings that UPVAN will organize this
event through its member organizations in the state.
It was also decided to organize the event in following
two ways;
1-
Upvan organized this Event in Lucknow.
2- Member Organizations organized this Event in all other
districts of UP.
State
Level Orientation Meeting for Stand Up and Take Action-2008
A
State Level Orientation meeting on 05/10/08 with 66 member
organizations decided to-
Objectives-
Organize
the event between 17-19 Oct and finally on each day activity
by 5.00 pm either on fax/phone so that it may be communicated
to WNTA Delhi office.
-
Create awareness among the member organizations about
MDG.
-
To make strategy and action plan based on local situation,
-
Make sure the participation of all the groups in area,
-
Sensitize
people on related issues of poverty and hunger,
-
To
sensitize media towards this issue,
-
Distribute
printed materials relating to MDGs.

Lucknow took oath against poverty in their school assemblies.

officials also supported by providing booth GPO, railway
stations and facilities in lower court premises.
-
Through press meet on 21/10/08 at press club Lucknow
the massage of people strength against poverty was conveyed
to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
