UPVAN - Gender Mainstreaming

Women have always been at the receiving end in all spheres despite efforts to empower them. The latest effort of the Government to empower women and give a strong gender slant to their policy concerned is the enactment of 73rd Constitutional Amendment Act in 1992. In order to mainstream gender, Gender resource Center was established in UPVAN. It ensures, at least 33% women headed organizations are as members of UPVAN.

Objectives:

Sensitize and educate the members,
To motivate the member organizations and others to frame Gender polices for their own organizations
To influence the Government to make requisite changes/ modifications in their policies developed on Gender

Activities:

Sensitizing and assisting voluntary organizations in developing Gender Policy for their own organizations;
Advocacy for allocation of 50% budget plan in gram Panchayat for projects related to women empowerment
