The
issue of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme has
been taken up by UPVAN during the preceding financial
year and up to the release of the report pertaining to
the Status Report of Uttar Pradesh Rural Employment Guarantee
Scheme (UPREGS) under Neerja Campaign.
The districts covered in UPREGS during the first
phase have been reviewed and the findings
of the report presented in the presence of members of
the UPVAN network organization, Gram Pradhans, Officers
of the concerned departments, Academicians and Media Personnel.
Based on the discussions the report was finalized and
a copy of the same has been sent to commissioner Rural
Development Department, Secretary Rural Development Department
of Uttar Pradesh, as well as, government of India for
the better implementation of the scheme during the second
phase.
During
the second phase
of the scheme 17 new districts have been taken up. In
thse districts again an awareness campaign is to be launched.
For this purpose approval of Executive Body of UPVAN regarding
future strategy of the follow-up, as well as launching
the programme in the new districts, will be sought during
the next meeting of Executive Body to be held on 29th
August, 2007.
Anticipating
the approval of the Executive Body it is proposed that
four Regional Meetings will be organized at one district
headquarter of each region. The dates of two regional
meetings at Jhansi and Varanasi have been tentatively
fixed as 10th and 20th September, 2007 respectively. In
these regional meetings the coordinators for the Neerja
Campaign, as well as, other organization representatives
will be called for discussion and finalizing the strategy
for future porgamme of action. Media personnel will also
be invited on this occasion with a view to disseminating
the status of NREGS in the districts.
Afterwards
State Tribunal meet would be organized on 2-3 November,
2007 in which atleast 2 cases from each district will
be presented before the tribunal. For this purpose the
beneficiaries of the concerned districts will be contacted
and their interviews will be recorded on video films.
