Third Citizen Report 2009

 

Upvan releases third Citizens Report-2009 on 18th March at SSK.

Keeping in view the status of poverty in the State of U.P. this year UPVAN in association its member Organization had prepared a Report on ground level reality of the State implementation Strategy form three major poverty alleviation programs :-

1. Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS)
2. National Rural Employment Guarantee Program (NREGA)
3. Public Distributed System (PDS)

The Study has covered 1000 rural people in 100 villages of 10 selected Districts. Major findings of the report exposed a reality as under:-

• The Schemes under Study has been centrally sponsored. The major financial allocations have also been from the Central Government. But the State could not fulfilled the total need of implementing staff.

• Weak publicity and field extension of the Schemes could not cover the desired target and area and people in majority were found unaware to them.

• The quality and quantity of the nutrients as well as food grains are not in consonance with the physical need of the children and daily consumption requirement of the people & villages

• Home visits have not been taken up properly; therefore the needy village house holds could not be benefit.

• Lack of coordination with the local Panchayat Governance the programs implementations remained away from village participation.
