Minority Action For Nation) and UPVAN.
AMAN
in collaboration with UPVAN organized a one-day state
level workshop at Lucknow with a view to create mass awareness
among the Muslim community about the present status of
the community in context of health and education and formulate
some concrete strategy for the overall development of
Muslim Community through the help of VOs. The program
was designed in two phases as panel discussion where the
panel members shared their views on the concerned topics
along with the open session where the suggestions of the
participants were invited. Shri Janardhan Prasad Tripathi,
Secretary, UPVAN coordinated the whole discussion.

Objectives:
-
Discussion and plan future strategy on economical, social
and cultural development of Muslim Community in the light
of Sachar Committee.
-
Role of VOs in the implementation of the activities under
Sachar Committee
After a brief round of introduction among the participants
UPVAN distributed the summary of the findings of Sachar
Committee both in Hindi And Urdu.

First

Conduct research on the problems of the Muslim communities

Spread Awareness among common people about sachhar samiti

Organize small research on different aspects of the community,
which could be used as a short documentary for sensitizing
the community about its objectives- Mr. Om Prakash, Swadesh

Summing
up the views of the panel members following statements
were given
- Special
focus should be given to educate the children of the respective
community apart from treating them as a source of income
generation - Ms. Raj Laxmi Kakkad, Laxmi Sansthan, Lucknow.

The documents of Sachar Samiti could be used as a reference
material for the development of this community - Dr. Abdul
Rasheed Siddqui, Banda.

Focus should be made to find out the reason of their backwardness
in the development process - Dr. Majhar Ali Rashidi, Pratinidhi,
Lucknow.

For the effective implementation of any schemes involvement
of all the sections of the society should be ensured -
Dr. Izhar Ansari, AGRI Lucknow.
After
the second session Naheed Aqueel, Prayatna Foundation gave
a brief presentation on the study conducted on the Muslim
community revealed that they do not get the benefits of
Indira Awas Yojna, Job Cards under NREGA and Family Planning.
Apart from that the children of these communities face discrimination
under the mid day meal scheme.

Summing
up the views of the panel members following statements were
given:
- Problems
faced by the Muslim community could only be solved through
discussion along with that efforts should be made to make
the community economically empowered -Mr. Akshay Bhai,
CNRI Lucknow.

Highlight the problems and evolve new methods to bring
a end to the feeling of secularism - Mr. H.R. Sunny, Nav
Bharat Samaj Kalyan Samiti, Moradabad.

Opening a resource center where all sort of information
regarding the community could be made available - Mr.
J.P. Sharma, UPVHA Lucknow.

There is a strong need to think about the decreasing proportion
of the representatives of the community in variouspublic
posts. Apart from that workshops should be organized on
the social and cultural aspects of the community and ensure
open discussion with the government and other stakeholders
highlighting the problems of the community. Moreover efforts
should be made to work as per the provisions made in the
constitution of India about the community - Mr. Aftab
Alam, AMAN, Bahraich.
